I was just informed by Landmark West that the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission has postponed the Broadway & 104th St Automat designation hearing to December 12, 2006. Please paste the above Automat-related links into your browser & still sign the petition. For the most up to date information, please contact [email protected] and feel free to write or carbon copy me as well. |

One of the best ways to preserve memories of the Automat and their legacy is to advocate for landmark status. GOOD NEWS...There will be a public Landmarks hearing on October 17th for one of the last standing (former) Automats on Broadway & W 104th St, NYC. As for its future, your help is integral in preventing it from being demolished. This is a rare gem, & their low-rise presence makes the Automat vulnerable to demolition and redevelopment. To sign an online petition, please follow: www.petitiononline.com/Automat/petition.html For preservation advocacy group, Landmark West's recommended actions you can take, a background on the Automat, photos, contacts, and the latest landmarks hearing information, please access: www.landmarkwest.org/advocacy/automat.html If you can encourage your friends to take the recommended actions, sign & forward the petition link, and testify at the 10/17 hearing, you will be a huge help towards the preservation of a classic NYC architectural, cultural, & social institution. Thanking you in advance! |
