Could you post an email or postal address to submit subway stories for the forthcoming book? (Looking forward to the book). Thanks. |

Hi Marianne: Back in the 70's & 80's I managed the Chock full O'Nuts restaurant chain and often communicated with "Gus" Hardart. We would go "back and forth" sharing information relating to union contracts and human resource matters, basically just helping each other out. I believe he was involved with Burger King at the time. I remember him as being very friendly and extremely helpful. Since many years have now passed, perhaps you can fill me in. Were you related to him? Many thanks, and all the best you and your career.

Hi Peter- Gus was my father. Horn & Hardart actually had a Burger King franchise in NYC and turned some of the Automats into BK's in an effort to keep up with the times and hold onto their valuable real estate. My father passed away in 1996- I'm sorry that he's not here to talk with all of the people who have come forward with fond memories of working with him. Thanks for your kind words about him. |
